Ours is a long history, with so many ups and downs (so so many downs). While so many aspects of our history have been hidden in subversion and backrooms and tucked away so as to not be found, there are efforts to preserve that history, however far back it goes. There are also efforts to preserve our present history, the history that we are making right now.
On My Planet: A queer and trans positive website with many resources on offer, they are also home to the Queer Story Archive. The Queer Story Archive is a collection of videos with queer folks sharing their stories, or parts of them, to preserve the stories, history, and allow others to learn from it.
UVic Transgender Archives: Housed at the University of Victoria, The Transgender Archives is committed to the preservation of the history of pioneering activists, community leaders, and researchers who have contributed to the betterment of trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people. Since 2007, they have been actively acquiring documents, rare publications, and memorabilia of persons and organizations associated with activism by and for trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people. Their collections comprise the largest physical trans archives in the world.
Digital Transgender Archive: The purpose of the Digital Transgender Archive is to increase the accessibility of transgender history by providing an online hub for digitized historical materials, born-digital materials, and information on archival holdings throughout the world. The Archive is an international collaboration among more than fifty colleges, universities, nonprofit organizations, public libraries, and private collections. By digitally localizing a wide range of trans-related materials, the Archive expands access to trans history for academics and independent researchers alike in order to foster education and dialog concerning trans history.
Queering The Map: An initiative for all queer identified people to add their experiences of queerness to a living history, living archive of where queer spaces happen.
